Seven tips to get more focused

7 tips to get more focused.

By Ignacio de Grado

It is quite common to feel that we have not been productive at all after a long day. A feeling of having wasted the whole day. Distracted, unfocused, inefficient, time spent in the wrong way. Many factors weigh into your performance, such as knowledge, perseverance, and experience. But focus is undoubtedly one of the more important ones.

Our inspirational deck, The Productivity Cards, is a great tool to help you become more efficient and focused. You can use our cards to improve your productivity and focus. In this blog article, we've included some tips for you to become more focused.

Because when you are focused, you perform better. You feel productive, full of energy, and have a sense of achievement.

1. Identify priorities

Effective planning in any project is a great tool. The clearer our priorities are, the better our focus. Because to be focused, we need clear objectives. Before starting a project, spend some time determining what the priorities are. A common mistake at this point is not understanding what you think the priorities should be and what the priorities really are.

Think about the goal of your project or job, what your intention for it is, what the results should be, and then clearly define the priorities. Make a list and manage the necessary resources. Set aside your personal preferences for what is needed and instead think about what really matters in your project. And avoid thinking about what you want and do what is needed. Misunderstanding a project's priorities can lead to major disappointment and very often a lack of time to reschedule and fix the project. This failure in your approach will cause you to focus incorrectly, resulting in your goals not being achieved.

2. Use your energy efficently.

3. Avoid distractions.

Distractions are a great consumer of time. Think about which environment you feel more focused in. Some people perform extremely well when working alone in their own home environment. Others feel productive surrounded by other like-minded people. If you have an active social personality, avoid places with more people, and separate work from socializing. Using mindfulness tools such as our GRADO inspirational decks is also a terrific way to become more aware, awakened, and present. Your state of mind greatly affects your ability to steer clear of distractions. Avoid thinking too much about the past and the present. Instead, introduce meditation into your life to make your mind quieter and more balanced. Avoiding distractions also requires effort on your part. It takes willpower and perseverance. Learn to read yourself and identify your weaknesses when it comes to distractions. Each of us has things that make us particularly distracted. Identify and avoid them with a little bit of effort. And lastly, keep regular habits.

4. Have healthy habits .

The connection between body and mind is something you should be aware of at any given moment. A messy life doesn't help you focus better. Poor sleeping habits are not good either. To become more focused and perform well, it is best to introduce healthy routines into your life. The clearer and more balanced your mind is, the better your focus will be. Don't eat a lot when you are working and avoid heavy foods. Also, make exercise a regular habit in your life. Cardio activities serve as a great form of meditation because when we are in the middle of an exercise and our heart is active, the mind cannot think easily. Go for a stroll if you feel blocked, and allow your mind to rest. Intuition can appear at the most unexpected times. Our capacity to focus is strongly related to our state of health

5. Visualize your goals .

Even if you can focus well, it is difficult to achieve anything worthwhile without clearly defined goals. So, before starting something, spend some time defining goals and setting priorities. Having a clear picture of what needs to be done is key to being successful. From that point on, focus on your goals and constantly visualize them in the present as if they had been achieved. The mind focuses much better with this approach, and you will be using your energy much more efficiently

6. Make discipline a habit in your life .

You need to train yourself to feel fit in a way that being disciplined is no longer a major effort. Introducing healthy routines into your life will make your mind and body stronger and more willing to put in extra effort and work hard. Also, the more regular you are in your efforts, the more you keep to a regular schedule, the more disciplined you will be. Perseverance and discipline will enable you to focus better, with less effort, and accept that sometimes things need time

7. Become a better observer .

You have to deal with so many distractions, problems, and expectations that very often your mind is not connected to the present moment. Your body is there, but you are not. Observing is a fantastic mindfulness exercise. Just look around you and try not to produce any thoughts. You will feel a kind of different environment because you are focusing on what is around you. Observing is not only a visual activity but also an auditory one. Sometimes you will be working hard and not find a solution because you are not looking at the right thing. Allow for more observation and silence in your mind. Take rests and avoid distractions. Get out into nature from time to time and just observe everything around you: the wind, forests, rivers. Allow your mind to be at peace. All these practices will improve your focus a lote

Focus is one of the most important factors that you have to practice. Everything about your performance starts here. Better focus, better quality work. Better focus, more balanced life and personal relationships. Use GRADO decks as a tool to help you with this, and GRADO planners for a mindful daily approach to planning your everyday life.
